Make turn and talks, partner work, and collaborative learning easier to manage with one simple classroom system!
These Table Group Number Mats assign each student at a four-person table a number from 1–4. Once students learn their number, teachers can quickly create partners, choose who shares first, assign responsibilities, call on students to report group thinking, and organize collaborative activities. All without stopping to assign new partners or roles every time!
Flip to the cooperative-learning side during group work and each number becomes a student-friendly team job:
1 — Team Leader
2 — Recorder
3 — Team Helper
4 — Time & Task Manager
The roles were intentionally designed to cover the classroom responsibilities students use most often: communicating, writing, helping, managing time, staying on task, handling materials or completed work, and speaking for the group.

Why Teachers Will Love This System
Instead of repeatedly saying “Find a partner,” “Who is writing?” or “Who is turning this in?”, students already know where to look.
Simply say:
“1s talk to 2s.”
“3s share first.”
“Work with your team. I may call any number to explain.”
“Number 4, please turn in your group’s work.”
The numbered mats also allow teachers to change responsibilities from activity to activity while keeping student groups consistent.
Built for Student Independence
Each role includes clear, kid-friendly expectations so students understand both what their job is and what it is not.
And no matter which role a student has:
Everyone thinks. Everyone talks. Everyone helps. Everyone learns.
Perfect for elementary classrooms and especially appropriate for Grades 2–5.
